Campaign for SOM's 80th Anniversary
July – August 2016
To mark 80 years of design at SOM, I organized a public photo competition on Instagram that drove awareness of our brand and its connection to beloved architecture around the world. The #SOM80 campaign boosted Instagram audience growth by 85% and inspired hundreds of people to post about the firm's work, including some of the most influential photographers on social media.
SOM Website Redesign
December 2015 – June 2016
To meet best practices and growing demand from website visitors, I spearheaded an iterative redesign of som.com to perform and display well on phones and tablets. As project lead, I managed design, development, testing, and launch phases. I also guided the revamp of the About section and overhauled the user experience of the Contact page.
May 2015 – August 2015
I launched a Chinese version of som.com, working with translators, developers, and leadership to bring the website to fruition. A content delivery network and image compression system were debuted in tandem to optimize site speed for users with slow Internet connections.
DMV Reservation System: User Experience Redesign
October 2014 – January 2015
The New York State DMV provides a wide array of services to millions of people every year. By nature, these services are transactional, but DMV users famously encounter many issues during their transactions with the agency. For my User Experience Design course at General Assembly, I redesigned the DMV’s new core system for connecting users with its services: its reservation maker.
One World Trade Center Campaign
November 2014 – December 2014
To celebrate the opening of One World Trade Center on November 3, 2014, I spearheaded SOM's first-ever photo contest. As the architects of the landmark New York City skyscraper, SOM was well-positioned to drive the conversation about the building. Primarily conducted through Instagram, this campaign increased public awareness of our firm, generated positive sentiment, and reached millions of people.
TechnoServe Strategic Plan
December 2013 – January 2014
With a new website in place (but a slim budget to work from), I pushed the limits of TechnoServe's digital assets to create a beautiful, engaging reading experience. It was our first piece of longform digital content that was every bit as good as the print version. This paved the way for the organization's first-ever digital annual report.
TechnoServe Online Fundraising Campaigns
September 2013 – December 2013
In the last four months of 2013, I simultaneously managed several multichannel online fundraising campaigns from inception to completion, which contributed to a 58% increase in revenue over the previous year. I was not only responsible for developing our strategy, but executing it, which meant hands-on work in email and social media copywriting, graphic design, videography and post-production. For samples of this work, please contact me.
TechnoServe Paper Craft Africa Video
February 2013 – March 2013
I led the development of a video about a women-owned business in Uganda that had benefited from working with TechnoServe. I art directed and managed all stages of post-production with a freelance videographer. The video was launched to coincide with International Women's Day.
TechnoServe Email Newsletter
January 2013 – February 2013
In order to optimize TechnoServe's email communications and realign with our new visual identity, I led the development of a new, responsive email template. I managed discovery, created wireframes and designed final Photoshop mockups for an external developer.
TechnoServe Website Redesign
September 2012 – February 2013
While creating the new brand of a (then) 44-year-old, $70 million international nonprofit with a four-person team, I managed the discovery, planning, production, development, and deployment phases of a comprehensive, responsive redesign of technoserve.org. We shipped the product in six months, on schedule. Throughout, I liaised with designers, developers, and internal stakeholders; kept the project aligned with the defined budget, milestones, and scope; and adhered deliverables to outlined requirements and specifications. I also worked to align the design of our new site with TechnoServe’s organizational priorities, the visual identity of our new brand, and online fundraising best practices.
TechnoServe Brand Story Video
December 2012 – February 2013
To unite TechnoServe's new brand assets and explain who we are, I provided project management and art direction services for a video that was to be a cornerstone of our new brand.
TechnoServe Visual Rebranding
June 2012 – February 2013
In shaping TechnoServe's visual brand identity, I played a key role in selecting and sculpting the system of assets that visually represent TechnoServe’s new brand, including the logo, brand fonts, sector icons and color palette.
TechnoServe Website Refresh
September 2011 – February 2012
As I managed TechnoServe's migration into simpler, more economical CMS and CRM systems, I also designed and instituted front-end website template changes to better align with basic user experience best practices.
